An Important Lesson in Garbage, Mid-Afternoon Mental Moment

Today’s Mental Moment is on a Whim, inspired by discussion on my morning post.

A bit of nostalgia, but also a public service message reminding us all that taking the garbage out… is a necessity.

Next time you think you may not want to take the garbage out, or you are sick and tired of nagging the kids or other person in charge of waste removal, just show them the story of this stubborn little girl.

It outta get things moving pretty quick.

Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout,    poor misinformed little heathen

Enjoy!

To your Mental State, Whatever it may be…

Lizzie Cracked (not broken)

THe poem is in the book Where the Sidewalk Ends, by Shel Silverstein.

  1. Shel Silverstein was one of the twentieth centuries unsung genius’s… good find….and thanks for sharing, I hadn’t seen or heard this one before…

    • one of my favorites brought back to my mind in a morning discussion of poets with El Guapo – on Trifecta Vulgar – you know of poets – what think you of my depiction being familiar …er well I dunno if you read it – just curious, follow the comment string – if you are looking for something to do _:-)

    • oh sorry i see you did read it -this is one of the poems in where the Sidewalk Ends – A very favorite or mine from childhood – El Guapo reminded me of it in our discussion ….

  2. Now that you’ve posted a reading of Shel Silverstein, I feel a need to dig out my copy of the Free To Be You And Me album…
